What’s In My Bag?

So… it’s Monday. I’m tired. My body is definitely reminding me that I turn 32 tomorrow (seriously, how can I be sore all over just from walking around and shopping for a few hours yesterday?). My two best friends today: coffee and ibuprofen.
I thought I would share with you guys all the fun stuff that I carry around with me on a daily basis.  Okay, some of it is not so fun, but definitely necessary!

Quay Australia Mandate Sunglasses – I received these in my June Pop Sugar Must Have Box
and I am OBSESSED. I love everything about these! They are definitely the most
comfortable sunglasses I’ve ever owned. And I’m not going to lie, they make me
look like a bad ass. My husband has even been known to steal these from me on
occasion.

Nivea Lip Balm (A Kiss of Olive Oil and Lemon) – My current
favorite lip balm. It smells heavenly – more like honeysuckle than olive oil
and lemon. I rotate between this and the Chapstick Hydration Lock (Vanilla Crème).
Givenchy Ange ou Demon Le Secret Purse Spray – I can’t
pronounce this for the life of me, but I love it! I am very picky about
fragrances, and this has been a favorite of mine ever since I received a sample
of it from Sephora. It has a fresh/fruity/floral scent, and it is pretty long
wearing.
NYX Blotting Powder – I just recently started using this and
it works wonders! I have VERY oily skin and start to get shiny by the time I
get to work in the mornings. This powder gets rid of the shine and leaves a
nice finish.
Royal Apothic Tinties Lip Butter – I received this in a Glossy
Box a few months ago. It has the perfect tint of pink and feels amazing on my
lips. Not to mention it comes in the cutest little jar. I am a sucker for
packaging!
L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream – I tend to rotate my hand
creams/lotions, but right now I have this little gem in my bag. It’s pretty
good stuff! I sometimes get cracked skin
around my nails, and this seems to really help with that.
Honorable Mentions:  Kate
Spade Ink Pen, Febreze To Go, Refresh Contacts Comfort Drops, Pill Case (I use
a Bare Minerals compact), Purell, Car Key, Credit Cards/License, Nail
Clippers/Nail File.  Oh, and my phone
(not pictured because it was taking the picture).
My bag is Lauren by Ralph Lauren, but I am not sure what the
name of it is (it’s a couple of seasons old). It holds a TON, and goes with just about every
outfit I own. You can’t go wrong with
black and white stripes!
Now, I am off to get more caffeine so I can continue to
function today. Until next time…

Sephora Haul

Happy Monday! I wanted to share my recent Sephora haul with you guys. Not a huge haul, but a haul nonetheless.
St. Tropez Self Tan Starter Kit – I have been wanting this
for quite a while, but just haven’t purchased it for some reason. I am always
leery of self-tanners because you never know if it’s going to turn you orange. And
it stresses me out to apply it because I feel like I have to do it perfectly or
it’s going to look weird. I don’t know why, it just gives me anxiety. I have
heard great things about St. Tropez, so I am going to give it a shot. I will
let you know how I like it!
Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet + foundation in Porcelain – As I’ve
mentioned before, this is my go to foundation. It’s just perfect, and does
wonders for my uneven skin tone.
NARS mini lip pencils (Cruella and Rikugien) – Sephora is
giving these out as a birthday gift during your birthday month. If you haven’t
signed up for the Beauty Insider rewards program, do it now! Even if you don’t
purchase from Sephora very often, at least do it for the free birthday gift. I
mean, come on. Free NARS lip pencils. Do you really want to pass that up?
Gucci Guilty fragrance mini – This was a free gift with $25
purchase. It smells heavenly, and of course I have a thing for tiny perfume
bottles.
Free Samples of L’Occitane Almond Soothing Moisturizer,
Burberry Brit Sheer, Givenchy Dahlia Divin – I love that Sephora offers 3 free
samples with each online purchase. I have discovered some great products this
way, and some that I wouldn’t have even thought about trying if I hadn’t
received a free sample.
So that’s it for the Sephora Haul! I have a few more hauls
that I will be posting about soon. Stay tuned!

Nightly Skin Care – My Rituals and Must Haves

Every night before I climb into my comfy bed, I have to
devote at least 10 minutes to my face. If I go even one day without doing my nightly skin care routine, my next
few days (sometimes weeks) will be filled with giant blemishes and me in a bad
mood because of it! I have moderate
acne, and when not treated properly, I will get cystic acne that takes FOREVER
to clear up (not to mention it is super painful). So, once I found a routine that worked, I
stuck with it and haven’t really changed it up much. I literally do this every night. Even if I go camping, I bring all my products
with me and find a way to do my routine. My husband understands because he knows
how important it is to avoid the painful breakouts, but I am sure everyone else
around thinks I am just high maintenance. I don’t even care! I gotta do
what I gotta do!

I start by removing all my make-up and oils that have built
up throughout the day (I have combo to oily skin). First, I use a facial wipe all over my face – Olay Fresh Effects Make-Up Remover Cloths.  Then,
I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Make-Up Remover so I don’t look like a scary raccoon in
the morning.

Once my make-up is removed, I exfoliate with warm water and St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub.

After towel drying, I apply my prescription acne medication (Clindagel) which was
prescribed by my Dermatologist.

I think it is super important to pay attention to delicate
areas like your eyes and neck. Start
young and you will thank yourself when you get older. I am 31 and wish I had started at 16! For my eyes, I use Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus eye cream. I put this all around my eyes – underneath, on the sides (where crows
feet develop), and all over my eyelids.
For my neck moisturizer, I switch it up every now and then. Lately, I have been using the OROGOLD Deep Renewal Night Cream. This is pretty expensive, so I
will probably switch to something else after it’s gone – like my Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizing lotion. You can even use a drug
store brand if that’s all you can get your hands on – as long as you use
something! The neck area is one of the
first places women start showing their age, so make sure you treat it right.

And here’s a little #ootn (outfit of the night)
inspiration:  my new Ralph Lauren
jammies. Aren’t they adorable? I scooped them up last week at T.J. Maxx. I seriously want every color.

So that’s it! I know
everyone has their own skin issues, and, therefore, has their own skin care
routine. This is just what I do and will
do every night until it stops working!

What’s In My Make-Up Bag? (my current make-up rotation)

Hey guys! I thought it would be fun to share with you all the goodies I am currently using pretty much every single day. I try to keep my make-up collection to a minimum (which, as you know, is extremely difficult). I just hate clutter and really don’t like to keep things around that I know I will never use. I do have a stash of other make-up in my closet, but these current favorites are kept in a separate “daily use” make-up bag to save time when I am getting ready in the mornings.

Make Up For Ever – Mat Velvet + (Porcelain)
This is my holy grail foundation. I have very uneven skin tone and I am prone to break outs. I also have some acne scarring that I absolutely hate. I have found that this really evens everything out and leaves me with a very fresh looking face. Best way to apply: damp Beauty Blender. Hands down.

Make Up For Ever – Lift Concealer
I mostly use this under my eyes, which tends to be a problem area for me. I have under eye bags that seem to always linger no matter how much sleep I get. I am convinced it is hereditary (thanks, mom!). I won’t say this is a miracle product, but it does brighten and conceal the dark circles. Sadly, the puffiness remains, and I have yet to find anything that will take it away. If you guys know something I don’t, please fill me in!!

Let me start by saying I am not a lipstick person. At all. I’ve just never liked it and I’m not really sure why. It could be that I never found the right shade that works for my skin tone…it could be that I don’t like the shape of my lips so I avoid anything that draws attention to them…it could be that most lipsticks taste awful and feel gross on my lips. However, I have finally found this lipstick and I have been wearing it every day since I received it in my last Glossy Box.

It is super long wearing, it doesn’t feel weird on my lips, and it even smells and tastes good. The color is absolutely perfect for me too. If I had just seen this color online or in a store, I probably wouldn’t have even tried it because it doesn’t look like a color that would suit me (it almost has a purplish tint). After trying it out, I realized that it is possible for me to love lipstick! It gives me just enough color without looking too “done” (if that makes sense). I just can’t say enough good things about it, and I am curious to try the rest of the Doucce line.

Other favorites in my bag:
Urban Decay – Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Too Faced – Sun Bunny Bronzer
Benefit – They’re Real! Mascara
NYX – Micro Brow Pencil (Taupe)
Marc Jacobs – Highliner Gel Eye Crayon (Black)
Estee Lauder – Blush (Soulful Spice, Brazen Bronze, Lovers Blush)
Bare Minerals  – Prime Time Foundation Primer
Ulta – Eye Shadow Quad (Bone, Calla Lilly, Plum Smoke, Truffle)
Beauty Blender
Bare Minerals brushes – Feather Light, Handy Buki, Precision Eyeliner, and Eye Shaper

So…what’s in YOUR make-up bag right now? Any favorites that you want to scream about from a mountain top?? (maybe don’t do that….people that aren’t like us just wouldn’t understand). But you are definitely free to post about them in the comments!

Hope your Monday was pleasantly tolerable!
