Black Embroidered Tunic Dress

This past Saturday was the perfect day for a stroll in the sunshine. My black embroidered tunic dress from Thistle and Finn is so comfy (and is only $32!).  It has very subtle bell sleeves, so if you love the bell sleeves trend but don’t want to go overboard, this is a great option.  And of course, I am obsessed with anything embroidered, so basically I just want to live in this dress.  I love pairing black with brown leather, and this Kate Spade tote is quickly becoming my new favorite!

Spring Capsule Wardrobe

Spring is finally here, and my closet is officially ready for the new season!  The idea of a capsule wardrobe has always intrigued me; however, being the fashion lover (read: addict) that I am, I know I could never stick to a capsule wardrobe in the traditional sense.  That said, I have found that putting together a capsule wardrobe is helpful in pointing out holes in my wardrobe so I know what basics I am lacking (or need to replace).  I was able to narrow it down to 33 pieces that I can mix and match throughout the season.

After finding out what items I needed to complete my wardrobe, I turned to thredUP – which is an amazing online boutique that sells like-new items from a wide range of brands (anywhere from Old Navy to Prada).  When I say “like-new” I mean the items I received looked absolutely pristine.  They had to have been worn only once, if at all.  I picked up 2 basics and 2 spring tops that I could incorporate into my spring wardrobe.  The exciting part – thredUP offers a 20% discount on your first order, so the total for all 4 items was only $52.36 (including shipping)!
Denim Jeggings by American Eagle – $12.49 (denim jeggings at thredUP here and here) | Black Flats by Mixx – $14.99 (black flats at thredUP here and here)
Blush Lace Blouse by Aryn K. – $20.49 (lace tops at thredUP here and here) | Striped Tee by J. Crew – $9.99 (striped tees at thredUP here and here)
With these 2 tops, I was able to create 6 different looks using the basics from my capsule wardrobe:

Here is the breakdown of my 33-piece spring capsule wardrobe:
3 Shorts | 2 Pants | 4 Dresses | 2 Tanks | 7 Tops | 3 Jackets | 7 Shoes | 3 Bags | 1 Statement Necklace | 1 Sunglasses
After such a great experience with thredUP, I know I will be shopping there for years to come.  I just wish I had known about it sooner!  Such a great way to add new pieces to your wardrobe for a fraction of the cost, and they are constantly adding new items.  You just never know what you are going to find!  I am eyeing this Prada Tote that they have right now.  Don’t beat me to it!  šŸ™‚

To save or splurge… that is the question. That is ALWAYS the question in my mind when it comes to shopping.  If I can get a similar look for less $$, I will typically go for it.  That said, it can be nice to splurge on an item from time to time!  I’ve rounded up these beauties for you to shop today. Will you save or splurge??

Spring Dress and Denim

Spring is in the air, and I couldn’t be more excited!  Trees are blossoming, the air is warming up, and I am updating my wardrobe with some spring colors and lightweight fabrics.  This dress from Never So Modern boutique is quickly becoming one of my favorites.  It’s so light and airy, and the ink drop print reminds me of dying Easter eggs (i.e. I think I found my Easter Sunday dress!).

I love pairing dresses like this with a denim jacket.  The contrast adds a little edge to the outfit.  And let’s face it, in March it can still get a little chilly!
