Garrett and I have lived in our current home for nearly 6 years, but there are still some rooms that really haven’t been decorated. I have never been the type to decorate a room all at once. Instead, I slowly find pieces that I love and add them to a room until it eventually all comes together. Our living room style is very simple and somewhat minimalist (which is how I like it), but we have a large blank wall of windows that has been untouched since we moved in. The ceiling in our living room is pretty high (around 18 ft.), so there is no simple DIY solution when it comes to window treatments. No running out to IKEA or Target for a basic set of curtains. When you are looking for curtains at that length, you really have to get something custom-made for your space.
This has been such an intimidating project for me to begin, mainly because I know that whatever I decide on can’t easily be changed. I am not an interior design expert, so I have desperately needed help coming up with something that will work for the space and that will be versatile if I ever decide to change our decor, wall colors, etc. Just to give you an idea of what my living room looks like, here are a few snaps. Don’t get me wrong, I love having a wall of windows, but it looks SO bare and boring. I really need a simple window treatment that will add some style and elegance to the space while also keeping the bright and open feel of the room intact.
Quality interior design services do not come cheap, and since I don’t really need a full room design (literally just window treatments) I wanted to avoid paying an arm and a leg for an interior designer. I really needed an à la carte option that would be budget friendly, yet personalized and tailored to my wants and needs. Luckily, The Interior Collection has made this a reality! Although they are a full-fledged interior design company based in Southlake, TX, they have recently launched a new online design service called IC Collected which allows you to select a specific area of your home to be designed. You can choose from several different schemes (window treatments, lighting, paint, furnishings, etc.) or you can get a custom quote. No face to face meetings with an interior designer – it all happens online. How simple is that?!
The first step in the process is completing a questionnaire about your space, budget, likes, dislikes, and anything else you want to share. After submitting your information (preferences, room dimensions, etc.) a designer will put together a few options for you to choose from. Soon after, you will receive a box in the mail with a design mock up, fabric samples, paint swatches, and other materials based on the specific design scheme you have selected. After reviewing the designs, you can then choose which option you would like to move forward with. It’s such a simple, budget friendly, non-intimidating approach to interior design, and it’s exactly what I needed to finally finish out my living room. The great thing about IC Collected is that you can utilize their design services no matter where you live since everything is done online!
IC Collected has helped me choose the perfect fabric, hardware, and style for my window treatments and I can’t wait to show you guys! They were just recently installed, so I will have the full recap and after photos up on the blog next week. Stay tuned!
Thank you to The Interior Collection for providing me with complimentary IC Collected design services for this post. As always, all opinions are my own.
