Earlier this spring, I met up with my blogger besties Annie and Lacey (of Absolutely Annie and The Glitter Gospel) for a fun little girls trip in Charlotte, NC. We had the absolute best time exploring the city together! Although we only had two full days in Charlotte, we managed to visit some of the best restaurants and attractions the city has to offer.
Where to Stay
One of the many things that made our trip so enjoyable was our stay at the Omni Charlotte Hotel. Our suites were gorgeous, with stunning views of downtown Charlotte. The staff was so attentive, and they surprised us with an amazing set up of gourmet donuts and drinks when we checked in to our rooms.
Aside from all the amenities the Omni Charlotte Hotel has to offer, it’s also in the best location for exploring Charlotte. It’s located right next to the Epicentre, which we quickly found out is the place to be downtown. From the hotel, you can easily walk to shops and restaurants while experiencing the buzzing city atmosphere.
Where to Eat
After a long day of travel, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to grab dinner on our first night in Charlotte. Trade Restaurant is actually in the Omni Charlotte Hotel, so we didn’t even have to leave! We walked downstairs to this beautiful restaurant for some yummy food, cocktails, and much needed girl talk. My favorites of the evening were the Crab Fritters and the Champagne Cobbler. We also tried all four of the desserts on the menu, and they were ALL delicious. Banana Bread Pudding… Creme Brulee… enough said!
The next day, we had an epic brunch at Tupelo Honey. With a jam-packed day ahead of us, we needed a big meal to give us energy for the rest of the day. Just take a look at this spread! This place has THE BEST comfort food, and the restaurant itself is full of Southern charm. I had the Southwestern Omelet and a mimosa — my favorite brunch combo!
Our dinner at 5Church was an absolute dream. This upscale restaurant is the epitome of class and elegance, and our meal definitely reflected that! We started with the Yellowfin Tuna Tartar and the Wild Mushroom Flatbread (both amazing), then had the Seared Sea Scallops and Filet Mignon as our entrees. I think this may have been my favorite meal of our entire trip! It’s definitely a must-visit if you’re ever in Charlotte.
After an amazing dinner at 5Church, we headed next door to Sophia’s Lounge for cocktails. This place is beyond elegant! It has a vintage European vibe to it, and it’s the perfect place to grab drinks and light bites with your girlfriends. I tried out the “Come On Spin” cocktail (tequila with strawberry, jalapeno, cucumber, and grapefruit). Absolutely delicious!
Sunflour Baking Company is a cute little cafe to grab coffee and pastries (try their “Coffee in a Cone”). We also stopped by Amelie’s French Bakery for their famous Salted Caramel Brownies. They were to die for!!
What to Do
No girls trip would be complete without a little pampering, right? We headed to The Daily Details Beauty Bar in the gorgeous Ballantyne area south of downtown for blowouts and manicures. This might be the most adorable little salon I’ve ever been to! I had actually never had a blowout in my life, and now I am fully aware of what I’ve been missing out on. My hair was the softest and smoothest it’s ever been! The entire experience was so relaxing and much needed after a long day of walking around the city. The staff was super friendly, and they even gave us recommendations on things to do in Charlotte. They also have a downtown location!
If you’re looking for a unique Charlotte experience, look no further than the Funny Bus. This was such a fun way to see the different neighborhoods in Charlotte while also learning a bit about the city’s history. Full disclosure: the comedian on board gets a little vulgar, so be prepared for some crude humor. If that’s not your thing, you may want to opt for the Tour de Food instead. We went on this walking food tour on our last day in Charlotte and loved every minute of it! As with the Funny Bus, you’ll learn a bit of Charlotte history, but you’ll also get to try out some of the best downtown restaurants. Definitely a must-do if you’re a foodie!
This was such a fun girls trip, and I can’t wait to go back! Although I wish our trip had been longer, I do think you can get a great feel for the city in one weekend. Have you guys ever been to Charlotte? I would love to hear about your experiences in the Queen City!
A big thank you to the Omni Charlotte Hotel, Trade Restaurant & Bar, 5Church, Sophia’s Lounge, Tupelo Honey, The Daily Details Beauty Bar, Funny Bus, and Tour de Food for hosting us during our stay and providing us with the best food and services in Charlotte.
