It’s been nearly a month since Garrett and I were in London for the Royal Wedding, but my royal fever is still going strong! We had so much fun celebrating at Fortnum & Mason’s Royal Wedding party in their Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon.
If you’re not familiar with Fortnum & Mason, it’s an upscale department store in London that has been around for hundreds of years. The Queen grew up shopping there with her family. On her Diamond Jubilee, she opened the tea salon on the top floor. As soon as I heard they were having a Royal Wedding party, I knew I had to go. It really was the next best thing to being at the actual wedding!
The city was decked out in Union Jack bunting everywhere we looked. There was so much excitement in the air, and it definitely felt like we were part of something special!
On the morning of the wedding, I threw on my fascinator and we headed over to Fortnum & Mason. It seemed like everyone around us was heading to a Royal Wedding party of their own. Many had already taken a train out to Windsor to get as close to the action as possible.
As the Royal Wedding coverage started, we sipped on Wedding Breakfast tea (which was first created back in 2011 to mark Prince William’s engagement to Kate Middleton). We then had some finger sandwiches, proper British scones (with clotted cream and jam), and a bit of bubbly!
The room was filled with ladies decked out in fascinators, along with a few gentlemen who were no doubt THRILLED to be there. Yes, I am one of the ladies that dragged her husband out to the girliest Royal Wedding party in London. I think he enjoyed it more than he will ever admit.
The Royal Wedding was SO beautiful and romantic. As it came to an end, we all enjoyed miniature wedding cakes (lemon elderflower — just like Prince Harry and Meghan’s actual wedding cake). Fortnum & Mason sure knows how to throw a Royal Wedding party! It definitely felt like a once in a lifetime experience, but who knows, maybe I’ll be back for Prince George’s wedding!
I wore this Gal Meets Glam dress to the Royal Wedding party, and I am pretty much obsessed! The floral jacquard is so gorgeous, and it went perfectly with my blush fascinator. My favorite part is the bow detail on the neckline (and of course the pockets). It really is the perfect dress, and I am dying to wear it again!
