This trip was a sponsored opportunity on behalf of Cambria Hotels. As always, all opinions are my own.
Wouldn’t you love to switch places with someone for a few days and experience what it’s like to live in each other’s cities? That’s exactly what I did this past weekend! Cambria Hotels invited me to take part in their Blogger Shuffle along with New York City blogger, Simply Audree Kate. The plan? I would spend a few days exploring her city (NYC), and she would do the same in my city (Dallas)! We created each other’s itineraries, which included recommendations on what to do and where to eat. Audree knocked it out of the park with her recommendations, and I had an absolute blast living like an NYC local!
CAMBRIA HOTEL NEW YORK – CHELSEA
While in NYC, I stayed at the Cambria Hotel New York – Chelsea. After having such a great experience, I am officially convinced that it’s the best place to stay in New York City. The first thing I noticed about this hotel is that it’s in the absolute best location! I was able to easily get pretty much anywhere I wanted to go in the city. I took the subway most of the time, so it was super convenient to be close to a subway stop. The hotel is located in Chelsea’s Flower District, so there are cute flower shops all around with lots of instagrammable photo ops!
SOCIAL CIRCLE – ROOFTOP BAR & BISTRO
Aside from being centrally located, Cambria Hotel New York – Chelsea also has some awesome amenities. Their rooftop bar & bistro, Social Circle, has an amazing view of the city. You can even see the One World Trade Center building to the south! I loved having dinner and drinks up there, and the food was absolutely phenomenal. I’ll tell you more about that in a minute!
24/7 ON-SITE FITNESS CENTER
The 24/7 on-site Fitness Center is super convenient, especially if you want to keep up your workout routine while on vacation. It’s a great way to begin or end the day, and you don’t have to worry about it closing! The facility is fully equipped, making it easy to keep up with your usual routine without leaving the hotel.
CAMBRIA NIGHTCAP PROGRAM
Cambria Hotel New York – Chelsea has a unique Nightcap Program that has completely redefined the meaning of a nightcap. You might think of a nightcap as an after-work cocktail, but the Cambria Nightcap Program provides more thoughtful, personalized upscale options. Cambria conducted a survey and found that close to 50% of travelers are drinking less alcohol while on business trips, so Cambria is giving guests more options to wind down at the end of the day. Guests and locals can choose from several little luxuries at the Social Circle, including items like milk + cookies, a milk punch cocktail, or even Chamomile Lavender tea! Choice Privileges members also receive a complimentary nightcap upon check-in such as a hydrating face mask, a shower burst, or herbal tea. I chose the tea for my nightcap, and it was such a relaxing way to end a busy day of exploring
The food in NYC did not disappoint, including the dinner I had at the Social Circle rooftop bar and bistro at the Cambria Hotel New York – Chelsea. I am very picky when it comes to burgers, and it takes A LOT to impress me. I can honestly say that the burger at the Social Circle is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. The onion rings and fries were also to die for! I love that they have a locally inspired menu, complete with local craft beer and signature cocktails.
Audree had given me some amazing restaurant recommendations, and one was Artichoke Pizza. You have to get pizza when you’re in NYC, and this place was perfect after taking a stroll on the High Line. The pepperoni was my favorite!
I also tried out Jack’s Wife Freda for brunch, and it’s the most adorable little place! I ordered the rosewater waffle with honey syrup and it was delicious. I wasn’t too sure how the rosewater would taste in a waffle, but I’m glad I took the chance!
A few other restaurants I loved were Aunt Jake’s, Bubby’s, and Joe’s Pizza. I also had some of the best chocolate chip cookies ever at Milk & Cookies in Greenwich Village. If I lived in NYC, I would be going there every day!
I tried to do and see as much as I could in the few days I was in NYC, although it was impossible to go everywhere! I’m so glad I was able to make it to DUMBO. It’s such a cool area, and the view of Manhattan can’t be beat.
Central Park was beautiful, and I loved the area around Bethesda Fountain & Terrace. Such a gorgeous part of the park, and the perfect place for photos.
I also really enjoyed hanging out on the High Line, which I was able to walk to from the hotel. It’s such a cozy little escape from the hustle and bustle of the city!
I think my favorite neighborhood in all of NYC is the West Village. I could walk those streets forever! The buildings have so much character, and it was so quiet compared to other parts of the city. If I ever moved to NYC, this is where I would want to live!
I had so much fun switching places with Simply Audree Kate for a few days, and I am already counting down the days until my next NYC trip. Be sure to follow Simply Audree Kate on Instagram to see her adventure in Dallas!
Thanks to Cambria Hotels for the complimentary stay in association with this review, and for this unique opportunity to live like an NYC local.
