The Statement Skirt

It’s no secret that ruffles are having a moment, and I don’t think they are going away any time soon! This ruffle pencil skirt is a big mix of all my favorite things: ruffles (duh), stripes, and neutrals. I usually don’t wear a lot of bold statement pieces, but this skirt is just perfect. The simple stripes and the neutral grey/white combo allow the ruffle to take center stage without trying to compete with it. It’s a subtle way to add some flair to your summer wardrobe, and I love that it can easily transition from work to happy hour!

When I ordered this skirt, I also came across a few others that I love and want to get! This ruffle pencil skirt is the same style, but with bigger blue and white stripes. It’s also on sale right now for less than $55! I am also slightly (read: majorly) obsessed with this tiered ruffle maxi skirt. I can just picture wearing this while having brunch in a courtyard in the south of France. Daydream city over here!

I am super excited to be traveling to Orlando today for the 2017 BlogHer Conference! I can’t wait to meet up with some of my favorite bloggers and learn more about this exciting (and sometimes crazy) world of blogging. After the conference is over, I will be meeting Garrett in Charleston for a few days of exploring. I have never been to Charleston, but it has been on my list for quite some time. I have been reading travel guide after travel guide trying to make sure we cover all the must-dos and must-sees in the short amount of time we’re there. Leave me a note in the comments if you have any recs of your own!

The Best Facial Cleanser for Oily/Combination Skin

Olay Daily Facials

One of my biggest insecurities has always been my skin, and for many years I would not go ANYWHERE without makeup. I was so self-conscious of my uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, and just the overall texture of my skin. I even contemplated sleeping in my makeup when I went on trips with other people just so my real skin wouldn’t be seen. My friends, that is no way to live. Thankfully, my skin is much healthier than it used to be, and I truly believe it’s because I am doing my research and choosing the right skin care products. I am finally comfortable with my skin and I feel confident leaving the house without makeup. That is a huge win!

With my increasingly busy schedule, I have been looking for ways to save time with my skin care routine without compromising my skin’s needs. It is seriously time consuming! At the end of each day, I have to cleanse my skin, exfoliate, tone, and sometimes use a mask – all of which typically requires four separate products. Luckily, I found Olay Daily Facials Daily Clean 4-in-1 Activated Cleansing Cloths. These cloths are much different than your typical makeup remover wipe in that they cleanse, tone, hydrate, and exfoliate the skin – all with one cloth. The 4-in-1 benefits give you a more complete clean than a makeup remover wipe or liquid cleanser, resulting in healthier looking skin. In a nutshell, Olay Daily Facials is the first step to getting that effortless, no makeup look that is all the rage right now. Are you ready to rock this trend with me?

I love how simple it is to use Olay Daily Facials. Just wet the cloth, rub to lather, cleanse your entire face, and rinse. That’s it! No more juggling several products to get the job done. You’ll also get some precious time to add back into your busy day, which I truly appreciate.

Did I mention these little cloths make traveling so much easier? Just pop them into your cosmetic bag and leave the bottles and tubes at home. Talk about a space saver!

My favorite thing about Olay Daily Facials is the way my skin feels afterwards. Some cleansers I have used are a bit harsh and tend to make my skin feel very dry and “tight”. These cleansing cloths leave my skin feeling hydrated and fresh, and I can confidently take on the day makeup free if I so choose. Beautiful, healthy skin is just a few deep cleans away, and Olay Daily Facials is making it easier than ever to get the kind of skin you’ll want to show off. Get your Olay Daily Facials here!

Lemon Love

There’s something about a pretty lemon print that just puts me in a good mood. Yellow is such a happy color, and I have really been drawn to it lately with summer being just around the corner. This tie-front midi dress is beyond adorable, but is selling out very quickly! I just noticed there are only a few left. If you don’t get your hands on this exact one, I also found this lemon print dress and this lemon print skirt that are just as cute!

You know how much I love fruity prints (see my strawberry blouse post here), and lemon in particular has been everywhere I look lately! I found this darling little lemon crossbody bag that I am dying to get, and it’s under $40! I also LOVE these embroidered lemon espadrilles and this precious lemon print cardigan for those chilly spring and summer nights.

So what about you? Are you loving the lemon? Feeling the fruit? Do you have your sights set on citrus? (that one was a stretch)

This post is actually very timely because Garrett and I have decided to make a BIG lifestyle change. We are going vegetarian! The goal is to eventually be on a 100% plant-based diet, but we are taking baby steps. Looks like a lot more fruit is in our future. Wish us luck…it’s going to be hard to kick old habits!

Stripes and Chambray

One of the things I always dread about summer is wearing shorts. I always see cute shorts that I like, but I rarely ever buy them because I am so picky! I don’t like super short shorts, and absolutely hate that feeling of being overexposed. However, I have finally found a pair of shorts that I actually feel comfortable in and will be wearing all summer. These chambray shorts are the perfect length, and I love the gold button details! They come in white, too, so I will probably be grabbing those soon. These pink shorts don’t have the buttons, but they are the same fit (Ryan fit) and come in several other colors and prints.

This striped off the shoulder top completely won me over the second I tried it on. I am in LOVE with the fluted sleeves, and the stripes complement the sailor-style shorts perfectly. My favorite part about this top is that it’s super hard to wrinkle, so it would be great to pack for a weekend getaway. I don’t know about you guys, but if I can avoid steaming or ironing clothes that is a huge win! I think this top would also be adorable paired with a contrasting print, like this floral skirt or these printed jeans.

How do you guys feel about shorts in general? Do you tend to avoid them (like I usually do), or would you wear them year-round if you could? Are there any specific brands that you always turn to if you’re looking for a more modest pair of shorts? Let’s chat in the comments!

Striped Off-The-Shoulder Top

It’s official. Blue has completely taken over my closet, and I’m not mad about it. I know I have been posting so many blue outfits lately, but for some reason I am just so drawn to it this year. This lovely striped off-the-shoulder top is one of my most recent finds, and it’s under $25! The lace trim is oh-so-adorable, and really pops up against my favorite dark skinny jeans (last seen here and here).

I love these Mossimo sandals so much that I just bought a spare pair yesterday in case anything happens to the ones I have. I seriously wear them constantly. I love the classic huarache style, and the cognac color goes with nearly everything I own. As much as I wear them, they are actually holding up really well. I may never have to break out the spares, but at least I have them just in case!

My light blue BP clutch just sold out (so sad), but the black version is still available and only $25! I love the foldover style, and the contrasting textures add a little pizzazz. Fun fact: I just had to google pizzazz to make sure it is in fact an actual word. I may go ahead and get the black one, because I love the blue one so much. A cute black clutch is a wardrobe staple no matter the season.

Daisies & Lace

daisy top lace skirt

Nothing says spring quite like daisies and lace. I just adore this sweet little daisy tank top (that happens to be $16), and it pairs so perfectly with my white lace midi skirt. I actually found this top in the Junior’s department, which I don’t tend to shop in frequently as a 33 year old. But hey, when you find something you like it shouldn’t matter! Don’t let your age define where you shop. If you are in your 30’s and 40’s, you can still find some great things in the Junior’s department, just like teens can still find some great things in the Women’s department. Wear what makes you feel good!

Mixing textures is similar to mixing prints, and it can be so much fun to play around with! I love how the white petals of the daisies play off the intricate pattern of the lace. The little tie in the front adds a playful touch, and can be tied up a little higher if you want more of a crop top look. I would also wear this top with these cropped linen pants, or this yellow midi skirt.

How perfect are these blue block heel sandals with this outfit? It’s nearly the exact shade of blue as the tank top, and if you’ve been following the blog for a while I am sure you are aware of the intense love I have for this shoe. I have them in blue, black, and tan. They are seriously the best, most comfortable shoes I own. Some colors and sizes are sold out, so definitely go swoop up what you can before they are all gone!
