Nightly Skin Care – My Rituals and Must Haves

Every night before I climb into my comfy bed, I have to
devote at least 10 minutes to my face. If I go even one day without doing my nightly skin care routine, my next
few days (sometimes weeks) will be filled with giant blemishes and me in a bad
mood because of it! I have moderate
acne, and when not treated properly, I will get cystic acne that takes FOREVER
to clear up (not to mention it is super painful). So, once I found a routine that worked, I
stuck with it and haven’t really changed it up much. I literally do this every night. Even if I go camping, I bring all my products
with me and find a way to do my routine. My husband understands because he knows
how important it is to avoid the painful breakouts, but I am sure everyone else
around thinks I am just high maintenance. I don’t even care! I gotta do
what I gotta do!

I start by removing all my make-up and oils that have built
up throughout the day (I have combo to oily skin). First, I use a facial wipe all over my face – Olay Fresh Effects Make-Up Remover Cloths.  Then,
I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Make-Up Remover so I don’t look like a scary raccoon in
the morning.

Once my make-up is removed, I exfoliate with warm water and St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub.

After towel drying, I apply my prescription acne medication (Clindagel) which was
prescribed by my Dermatologist.

I think it is super important to pay attention to delicate
areas like your eyes and neck. Start
young and you will thank yourself when you get older. I am 31 and wish I had started at 16! For my eyes, I use Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus eye cream. I put this all around my eyes – underneath, on the sides (where crows
feet develop), and all over my eyelids.
For my neck moisturizer, I switch it up every now and then. Lately, I have been using the OROGOLD Deep Renewal Night Cream. This is pretty expensive, so I
will probably switch to something else after it’s gone – like my Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizing lotion. You can even use a drug
store brand if that’s all you can get your hands on – as long as you use
something! The neck area is one of the
first places women start showing their age, so make sure you treat it right.

And here’s a little #ootn (outfit of the night)
inspiration:  my new Ralph Lauren
jammies. Aren’t they adorable? I scooped them up last week at T.J. Maxx. I seriously want every color.

So that’s it! I know
everyone has their own skin issues, and, therefore, has their own skin care
routine. This is just what I do and will
do every night until it stops working!

What’s In My Make-Up Bag? (my current make-up rotation)

Hey guys! I thought it would be fun to share with you all the goodies I am currently using pretty much every single day. I try to keep my make-up collection to a minimum (which, as you know, is extremely difficult). I just hate clutter and really don’t like to keep things around that I know I will never use. I do have a stash of other make-up in my closet, but these current favorites are kept in a separate “daily use” make-up bag to save time when I am getting ready in the mornings.

Make Up For Ever – Mat Velvet + (Porcelain)
This is my holy grail foundation. I have very uneven skin tone and I am prone to break outs. I also have some acne scarring that I absolutely hate. I have found that this really evens everything out and leaves me with a very fresh looking face. Best way to apply: damp Beauty Blender. Hands down.

Make Up For Ever – Lift Concealer
I mostly use this under my eyes, which tends to be a problem area for me. I have under eye bags that seem to always linger no matter how much sleep I get. I am convinced it is hereditary (thanks, mom!). I won’t say this is a miracle product, but it does brighten and conceal the dark circles. Sadly, the puffiness remains, and I have yet to find anything that will take it away. If you guys know something I don’t, please fill me in!!

Let me start by saying I am not a lipstick person. At all. I’ve just never liked it and I’m not really sure why. It could be that I never found the right shade that works for my skin tone…it could be that I don’t like the shape of my lips so I avoid anything that draws attention to them…it could be that most lipsticks taste awful and feel gross on my lips. However, I have finally found this lipstick and I have been wearing it every day since I received it in my last Glossy Box.

It is super long wearing, it doesn’t feel weird on my lips, and it even smells and tastes good. The color is absolutely perfect for me too. If I had just seen this color online or in a store, I probably wouldn’t have even tried it because it doesn’t look like a color that would suit me (it almost has a purplish tint). After trying it out, I realized that it is possible for me to love lipstick! It gives me just enough color without looking too “done” (if that makes sense). I just can’t say enough good things about it, and I am curious to try the rest of the Doucce line.

Other favorites in my bag:
Urban Decay – Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Too Faced – Sun Bunny Bronzer
Benefit – They’re Real! Mascara
NYX – Micro Brow Pencil (Taupe)
Marc Jacobs – Highliner Gel Eye Crayon (Black)
Estee Lauder – Blush (Soulful Spice, Brazen Bronze, Lovers Blush)
Bare Minerals  – Prime Time Foundation Primer
Ulta – Eye Shadow Quad (Bone, Calla Lilly, Plum Smoke, Truffle)
Beauty Blender
Bare Minerals brushes – Feather Light, Handy Buki, Precision Eyeliner, and Eye Shaper

So…what’s in YOUR make-up bag right now? Any favorites that you want to scream about from a mountain top?? (maybe don’t do that….people that aren’t like us just wouldn’t understand). But you are definitely free to post about them in the comments!

Hope your Monday was pleasantly tolerable!

Target Haul

Happy Friday, lovelies!

Lately I have had an obsession with Target – even more so than usual. They just have some REALLY good stuff right
now. It’s dangerous for me to even walk
in the door because inevitably I will want all. of. the. things. And with the Cartwheel app – plus the 5%
savings by using the Red Card – you just can’t beat it. Here’s what I picked up!

NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe

I picked this up in a pinch. I usually
use the Sephora brow pencil that is very similar to this, but I don’t live near
a Sephora and I didn’t have time to order online and wait for it to get to
me. I decided to try this NYX pencil,
and let me tell you, I love it even more than the Sephora one! The taupe color is a better match for my
brows and the brush on the end is much better than the little tiny comb on the
Sephora version. (I couldn’t find this on the Target website, so I am linking
to Ulta)

What can I say about this stuff? I
honestly don’t know how I ever lived without it. I have tried other dry shampoos that just don’t
cut it. The Dove dry shampoo smells
amazing and I find myself using it daily, even on days that I wash my
hair. It’s great (and necessary) on day
2 after wash because it soaks up all the gross oil that builds up. But like I said, I even use it on days that I do
wash my hair because it adds texture and volume. Love love love it! (Again, couldn’t find this on the Target OR Ulta website, so I am linking to
Amazon)

These caught my eye and I just had to have them. I picture wearing these with black skinnies
and a plain white t-shirt. That pop of
yellow will be the perfect addition to a neutral outfit.

These were so cute on the rack and even cuter on. Loving the colors, and of course I am
obsessed with stripes.

My absolute favorite tanks (not just because they are named that)! I have nearly worn out my black and cream
colored ones, so since they were on sale and had new colors/prints, I went
crazy and bought 6 of them. I seriously wear
them under everything. And I may go back for more. Not kidding.
Let me know what amazing things you guys have found at Target lately. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

graze box – Beware of Addiction

I was
recently introduced to an amazing subscription box called graze box. With each
box, you get either 4 or 8 little snack packs that are not only yummy, but
actually good for you (yes, it’s possible)! You pay box to box, so if for
some reason you are a crazy person and don’t like it you can just cancel your
subscription. I absolutely love this box
because it has introduced me to healthier snack options that I probably wouldn’t
have tried if I had just seen them in a store. It kind of forces me to eat healthy because when the box arrives I am
chomping at the bit to try everything. There
are hundreds of different snack packs on graze.com that you can rate – so if
you see something you know you won’t like you can just click “trash it” and it
won’t be sent to you. On the flip side, if
there is something you absolutely love you can click “love it” and it might
show up in a future box. So much fun!

My first box included:

Hello World!

My name is Tristan Dennington and I am here to
share the little things in life that I consider awesome and exciting. I am originally
from the great state of Oklahoma (go Sooners!), but I am currently living in a quaint
little neighborhood just outside of Denton, TX. I am married to my best friend,
Garrett, and we have one four-legged son named Tupac (a 6 year old Shiba Inu).

This is more than just a beauty blog – it’s my life. I will
be sharing everything from make-up and beauty products … to home décor … to
adventures and vacations with the hubby. My life is anything but boring, so it
should be an exciting ride. I hope you love it here!
